The Nana Foundation

The Nana Foundation, started by Tryntje Horn, began many years ago with a simple kind act. When Tryntje's parents died, she had been left a small sum of money. Not a lot, but enough to do something with. Not knowing just what she wanted to do with this money, she just left it in an account in wait for the time when it might come in useful. One day, she was sitting in her veterinarian's office. An avid animal lover, Tryntje was quite well known to her vet. That was an eventful day, however. An older woman was standing there, very upset because her beloved pet needed an operation to save its life and she couldn't afford it. It looked as if she would have to put her pet to sleep. Tryntja waved quietly to the veterinary assistant that she would cover the bill. The vet assistant told the woman to come back in the morning, they would see what they could do.

Tryntje said that when she left the clinic that day, she felt the best she'd felt in her whole life and she knew right away what she wanted to do with the money she'd been given. So for the next three years, until her fund ran out, Tryntje became a guardian angel for pets whose owners could not afford emergency veterinary care for them. Over that time and since then, the Nana Foundation also began rescuing animals from abusive situations. Tryntje and her team would assess a situation and go in and purchase the animals out of bad situations if needed, and began actively working to rescue, treat, rehabilitate and relocate abused animals.

Tryntje Horn and the Nana Foundation spend on average, over $50000 per year on veterinary bills. This worthy rescue organization works quietly to save lives and improve the lives of animals in our region.
